Gunung Nuang Pacat 9 Jul 2011

The journey to G Nuang Park from PJ was a breeze despite the traffic lockdown by the Police in connection with the Bersih Rally. We reached there at 9 a.m. and started trekking at 9.10 a.m. after paying RM1 entrance fee. Generally, the facilities at the Park were well maintained. The gazebos along the trail were however badly run down with missing signage. See last trip in April 2011 (http://happyotrekker.blogspot.com/2011/04/kem-pacat-g-nuang-342011.html).

The weather did not look promising but we decided to proceed with the trek. Fortunately, there was no rain. We hit Pacat Camp at 12.50 p.m. where we had a good rest before proceeding downhill at 2 p.m. It was about 4.50 p.m. when we reached the base.

Gunung Nuang Pacat 3 Apr 2011

It was time to revisit Kem Pacat, Gunung Nuang following the last trip which was more than a year ago on 27.6.2009 (Re: http://happyotrekker.blogspot.com/2009/06/g-nuang-pacat-27062009_29.html)

Six of us met at Suntex Garden to have breakfast before proceeding to Gunung Nuang Base Camp. It was about 9 a.m. when we got ready to start our trek. The first part of the trek to Kem Lolo was pleasant but uneventful except for the stream crossings which proved to be a bit challenging given the high water flow and volume. Fortunately, on hand we had 2 gentlemen who willing tread the water (with their shoes) to assist the ladies to cross the various streams without getting wet. Kudos to them again!

Kem Lolo was crowded with hikers when we got there at 10.50 a.m. After a short break to energise ourselves, we proceeded to climb up the trail to Kem Pacat at 11 a.m. Many Bat Lily flowers could be spot along the trail this time. The trail was as eroded as ever with wider trail shoulder. We took about 1.5 hours to hit Kem Pacat which was surprising kept neat and tidy.

We started our return trek at 1 p.m. following a good rest and lunch and reached the base at 4.15 p.m.

Overall, it was a great trek despite the sweltering heat with trekking buddies Elsie, Sarah, May, Victor and Terry.

Sg Lepuh Fall 21 Feb 2010

The last trip was on 5 July 2009. (See http://happyotrekker.blogspot.com/2009/07/lepoh-waterfall-5-july-09_6.html). It was then a fruiting season and the place was vibrant with activities. However, this time round the picture was different.

Starting at 9 a.m. we did a slow trek and observed that the place appeared a bit desolated. A wooden bridge has collapsed. We did not bump into any soul throughout the trek. The trail was parch dry and not slippery which made trekking easier. The trail was however obscured by fallen trees at three different areas and we have to make short detours.Not a single leech was in sight along the trail or at the waterfall area, given the prevailing hot weather.

We reached the waterfall at 11 a.m. Except for a group of campers we literally have the whole waterfall place to ourselves to enjoy - which was a bonus for the place is often crowded. The water flow was still strong. The cool crystal clear water was inviting enough to attract for the youngsters to wet themselves.

After lazing around for 2 hours, we left the place at 1 p.m. and returned to base at 2 p.m.- at record time of 1 hour trek.

Sg Lepoh Waterfall 5 Jul 2009

The last visit to Lepoh waterfall was in 2006 (http://happyotrekker.blogspot.com/2006/10/lepuk-fall-2006_16.html).
Development appeared to have got up. Now there are resort-like camps, changing facilities (FOC) and properly demarcation area for parking @ RM2 per car. Overall the place looks neat. Things that have yet to change are the rickety wooden bridges to access the Lepoh trail.

Starting at 10.15 a.m. with a balmy weather on our side, we took a leisurely trek with constant stopovers to admire fruiting trees, plants and flowers as well as standing aside for trail traffic (durian collectors) to pass through.

A huge crowd had gathered at the waterfall when we arrived at 12 noon. Space was limited and we were only able to park ourselves further down the fall. We took opportunity to touch base with old friends during the next 11/2 hours whilst having our refreshment and snacks. We left the place at 1.30 p.m. and arrived at the base at 3 p.m.

Overall, a easy trek even for beginners.
